Job Description:
The Competency Lead is responsible for developing and enhancing the workforce’s technical skills while fostering a continuous learning culture. This role involves managing skill profiles, defining how to assess proficiency and training identification to meet current and future needs. The Competency Lead partners with IT leaders and HR to execute talent development, evolve the career ladder and job architecture balancing skill supply and demand to meet enterprise priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage skill profile lifecycle to ensure critical skills align with Chevron needs and industry trends. Engage appropriate SME’s and coach supervisors to objectively assess skill proficiency.
Lead strategic workforce planning for a job family to support talent acquisition and targeted development.
Evolve the career ladder, job architecture and articulate career paths to the workforce.
Cultivate a continuous learning culture by supporting IT Function implementation of Skill Insights (IT Competency) and effectively curating customer focused learning opportunities (IT Learning Hub, IT Engineering University) enable career transparency and mobility.
Delivers local training and facilitates onboarding as needed.

Selection Criteria 1:
Sought out domain expertise with experience developing/deploying training, identifying and assessing skills and coaching.

Selection Criteria 2:
Demonstrated ability to work through influence and foster positive relationships with ability to effectively communicate, engage, and build trust, across all levels of the organization.

Selection Criteria 3:
Proven ability to facilitate large workshops and lead programs / projects responsible for change management and tracking progress against deliverables.

Selection Criteria 4:
Performed data analysis and developed a strategy.

Experience
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Human Resources or a related field.
At least 10 years of experience in people leadership or talent development.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree in Information Technology
Sought out technical domain expert

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
