Pay Range
$18.50 - $27.75

Major Responsibilities:
Performs duties as assigned Consistently understands all aspects of all cafeteria positions and clarifies actions with an authority and/or Charge person.


Serves hot food from steam table following procedures including: merchandising, portion control, menu cycle plus cooking vegetables, fried foods, etc. as directed. May also prepare other hot food items, including pizzas and specially baked items.
Maintaining beverage station according to procedure.
Maintains salad bar, cold food bar according to procedure
Performs cashier’s duties as assigned per/procedure
Salad Room personnel clean fruits and vegetables, prepares and portions cold plated, salads, desserts and other food items for serving according to standardized recipes and menu rotation. Stores foods to maintain optimum freshness according to department guide lines. Dates and labels all produced items stored.
Maintains Deli Bar according to procedure, dates and labels stored food items.
Operates dishmachine and performs all Functions of Dishroom station per procedure. Transports and sets-up clean dishware in service area.
Cleans dining area, meeting rooms, vending area, and tables. Replenishes condiments and napkins, removes debris from floor.
Provides food prep, set-up, delivery service and cleans up for Special Functions. Performs other miscellaneous duties and cleaning projects as assigned.
Runner works to bring items from the main kitchen and storeroom areas on the ground floor to the tenth floor cafeteria throughout their shift. This includes bringing all stock: food, dry goods, and paper products, and all hot and cold food items for daily service. The runner is responsible, during lunch, to call the kitchen or let the supervisor know to call the kitchen to order food as it is needed.

Maintains sanitation and safety standards


Uses proper cleaning chemicals and ensures fellow employees do the same at all times.
Maintains work areas in a sanitary manner consistently throughout the shift and leaves the work area spotless for nest co worker. Encourages likewise performance from others.
Reports all unsafe situations immediately to an authority. Advises staff and patrons of unsafe situation. Tries to rectify unsafe conditions if possible.
Does extra cleaning without supervision when their assigned duties are complete

Suggestive sells items to all patrons


Keeps current on availability of menu items and changes in Cafeteria. Knows correct names and ingredients of inform patrons if such knowledge is requested.
Suggests new menu items and marketing strategies to an authority,
Overlooks personal preferences and enthusiastically offers items to patrons before assistance is requested: i.e. reading body language.

Accommodates guests special needs and requests.


Goes above and beyond meeting patrons needs, foresees special needs and responds immediately.
Is knowledgeable in Cafeteria functions and has answers to any patrons questions, seeks out answers to any thing unknown.
Contributes and receives recognition for service improvement efforts.
Actively listens to patrons and strives to make improvements based on patron requests

Education/Experience Required:
High School or equivalent preferred No experience – will train

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Ability to read, write speak and understand the English language to fill out simple reports, as related to essential job activities Ability to communicate effectively none required

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Exposed to some extreme temperature changes, heat/dishroom, cold/cooler and freezers. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance and/or 10 to 15 pounds frequently. Large amounts of bending and lifting, as related to essential job activities

This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08/01/2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For lifts over 35 pounds, lifting equipment is expected to be used or lift with at least one other associate when available. Unique lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case by case basis.
